par·kour (pärˈko͝or) noun — 1. the activity or sport of moving rapidly through an area, typically in an urban environment, negotiating obstacles by running, jumping, and climbing.
When I saw a young man named Faden performing a thrilling balancing act on the steep hand rails at Stone Mountain a year ago on this date, February 6, 2016, I had no idea at the time that it fell into a special category of urban sporting known as "parkour." I simply assumed Faden, who was originally born in Indonesia and spoke English and Arabic, was a gifted tightrope walker or aerialist.
