Today I was fortunate to meet Clint Tate, of Tucker, GA, climbing Stone Mountain on his 86th birthday. The former Marine still works as a tax attorney and CPA and climbs the mountain every year on his birthday. We created a bit of an inspirational commotion as we talked, and one mother whose son is currently a Marine couldn't resist giving him a big hug. Here Clint shares some life advice (and off camera he warned against red meat and encouraged good red wine).
[Updated 7-22-19]: “I wanted to reach out and thank you…I have tears of happiness seeing him and hearing his voice again,” her note sent through the website read, as she broke the news to me that our friend Clint Tate passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 18, 2019. I’m touched by this woman's thoughtfulness in letting me know, especially as regulars at the mountain do have a way of noticing when someone no longer appears along the walk-up path. I often think back on all those I've met ever so briefly there, so knowing that Clint Tate has begun a new journey is such a kindness. He will be missed and remembered.
