These high school students from the Moraine Valley outside of Chicago are participants in the federally-funded Upward Bound Program. These underserved or underprivileged 9th-12th graders, were in Atlanta touring colleges, among them Spelman, Morehouse, and Georgia Tech. Lining up 58 students and their chaperones on top of Stone Mountain for a "We Are the World"-style photo remains a favorite memory! Here they are shouting "Upward Bound!" like the very sound of Dr. King's "freedom ringing from Stone Mountain of Georgia" itself!
