"The dilemma of trash, why are some people picking it up, and why are some people throwing it down?" asks Richard Broad, one of the regular self-appointed caretakers of Stone Mountain. It's a funny thing, I've spent a good amount of time talking with Richard at the mountain within the last six months, but when I sat down to write this post, it occurred to me that I know more about his thoughts on recycling than I do personal details about him. I plan to write more about Richard later as part of a larger story about recycling at the mountain, but for now travel up and down the mountain with us as we pick up recycling, lost articles, and ponder the mysterious amounts of multi-colored glass shards strewn around the mountain.
